Handled the branding for playtea, an authentic tea stand in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, overlooking the Yasaka Pagoda. Located in an area where people from around the world come together, the shop offers original tea drinks inspired by tea cultures from across the globe.

The project included the logo, visual identity, storefront signage, drink cups, menus, website, and other key brand applications.

The visual identity is based on the concept of chigiri-e, a traditional Japanese paper collage technique. Torn paper forms were applied across the brand, from the drink cups to the menus, creating a consistent identity throughout the customer experience.

The irregular forms created through chigiri-e appear as a recurring motif throughout the brand, reflecting its open and playful approach to exploring tea cultures from around the world.
